As a mother of two, I can relate to the many challenges that come with parenting. I understand the feeling of just wanting a child to be happy and healthy. Together, we will develop a plan to address your child’s challenges and improve their overall quality of life. About Us
My Story
Dr. Emily Johnson is a licensed psychologist (PY 10063). She earned her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Psychology (Magna Cum Laude with Honors) from Florida State University in 1995. She was a member of several honor societies including:
- Phi Kappa Phi
- Phi Beta Kappa
- The Golden Key National Honor Society
Dr. Johnson received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Florida in 2001 where she was awarded several honors including the:
- Scientist-Practitioner Award
- Excellence in Psychological Research Award
- Excellence in Psychological Assessment Award
During her time at UF, she worked in a hospital setting where she treated patients in outpatient clinics as well as inpatients with a wide array of psychological and medical issues. She completed training in:
- Medical Psychology
- Child/Adolescent Mental Health
- Neuropsychology
- Advanced General Assessment
Her training included the psycho-diagnostic assessment of medical and psychiatric outpatients and inpatients with a broad range of presenting problems including mood and anxiety disorders, learning disabilities, ADHD, ODD, developmental delay, head injuries, and seizure disorders.
- Dr. Johnson completed a one-year clinical internship at the Yale-affiliated Veterans Affairs Medical Center in West Haven, CT.
- She then completed a 2-year Post-Doctoral Fellowship in the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology at the University of Florida.
- In 2004, she opened a private practice and has been working with children, adolescents, and adults in the areas of assessment, diagnosis, and therapy since that time.
- Dr. Johnson currently practices in Lake Mary, FL and specializes in the assessment of ADHD, giftedness, and emotional/behavioral issues in children and adolescents.
Dr. Johnson has published scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals as well as several book chapters in psychology texts. She has provided numerous seminars and workshops on Stress Management in the Central Florida community. She is a member of the Florida Psychological Association.
In her free time, Dr. Johnson enjoys spending time with her family, watching her sons play baseball, exercising, and reading.
